Living the dream.
In the beginning, there were two people, two dogs, and a dream. The dream sprouted from desire and longing, to go places and see things, experience life and people.
In 2010, we built a house, worked, went to school, and married. In 2012 I graduated with a degree in professional clay and founded Lowder Pottery, just as we realized we no longer wanted to live in our fresh new house.
I continued with my bachelor's degree in studio art, and we started to formulate a plan to be able to travel and work and live and have fun together. So we built a bus.
I graduated in 2014 and we hit the road for Utah. We've lived in the bus ever since. The first two years I carried my wheel and kiln with us, and made pots in my spare time off from park rangering. Now I make my years worth of stock and carry a variety with me to sell on etsy. In the fall my husband Bryan and I sell at pottery and art shows. He is getting into leatherwork, and can be found under the shop name Lowder Leather.
In 2013 I was a resident artist at Sanbao Ceramic Institute in Jingdezhen China. In 2024 I spent two months as a resident artist at The Shigaraki Ceramic Culture Park in Japan learning new skills and firing an Anagama Kiln. I have done shows and sold pottery across the United States.
We love to travel nationally and internationally with our two dogs Leo and Ginger. *Update, both of our sweet pups have passed, and we miss them dearly. R.I.P L & G
