Peter Birchwood est un artiste et graphiste installé dans le Midwest américain. Son inspiration lui vient des livres d'histoires anciens, des dessins animés classiques et du charme nostalgique de ses voyages d'enfance à Hayward, dans le Wisconsin. Formé à l'École de l'Art Institute de Chicago, il a perfectionné son art à travers la gravure sur celluloïd, la gouache, la peinture à l'huile, les techniques mixtes et le design numérique.
Aujourd'hui, Peter transpose cet héritage traditionnel dans le monde moderne en créant des œuvres d'art d'inspiration rétro grâce à l'intelligence artificielle. Son expertise en matière de couleur, de composition et de narration imprègne chacune de ses créations, perpétuant ainsi son style « rétro-conte de fées » si caractéristique.
Son épouse, Wendy, est un élément indispensable du processus créatif : elle propose des idées, choisit les thèmes et contribue à orienter de nombreuses images. Ensemble, ils aspirent à créer un art ancré dans la vérité, la beauté et une douce nostalgie.

Peter Birchwood is an artist and graphic designer based in the Midwest, inspired by vintage storybooks, classic cartoons, and the nostalgic charm of his childhood trips to Hayward, Wisconsin. Trained at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he built his craft through cel-vinyl, gouache, oil painting, mixed media, and digital design.
Today, Peter brings that traditional foundation into the modern world by creating retro-inspired artwork with the help of AI tools. His background in color, composition, and storytelling guides every piece, keeping his signature “Storybook Retro” spirit alive.
His wife, Wendy, is an indispensable part of the creative process—offering ideas, choosing themes, and helping shape the direction of many images. Together, they aim to create art rooted in truth, beauty, and joyful nostalgia.
When he’s not creating, Peter can often be found fishing in Hayward, gathering inspiration and new memories.
