You might say that Spider-man inspired my business. I was a huge fan of Spidey so when my parents gave me a 1/32 model kit of the Spider-Van for my sixth birthday, I quickly built it. I’ve been building scale model cars ever since.

As I entered my 20s, certain adults began to look askance at my hobby and suggest I put such “childish” pursuits aside. But, after I finished a graphic design program, I saw that my newly acquired skills could improve the look of my model cars. I designed miniature license plates that faithfully duplicated the design of real plates, matching color, fonts, numbers and tags – unlike the phony-looking plates that might come in a model kit. Soon other hobbyists were asking if they could buy plates for their builds and Best Model Car Parts was born.

Realizing that gauge sets were often unrealistic or usually not provided in model kits at the time, I added a line of gauge face sets. Best Model Car Parts now offers license plate sets for all 50 states and many Canadian provinces, across the decades, and currently upwards of 250 gauge sets. I’ve also developed a line of hand-cast resin conversion kits. My products have been seen in ATS, Model Cars Magazine and Scale Auto.

After two decades on another online platform, I’ve opened at Etsy store. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, chances are I just haven’t listed it yet – so please ask. I’m also open to suggestions and do custom work when possible—and time permits!
