Sammelkarten werden teuer.
Trading Cards get expensive.
Ich habe 2022 nach einer 7-jährigen Pause wieder angefangen, MTG zu spielen. Und da ich neu im Commander-Format (EDH) war, begann ich, Decks zu erstellen. Ich habe schnell gelernt, dass die meisten Karten zwar nicht so teuer sind. Nachdem ich zum fünften Mal dieselbe 15-20-Dollar-Karte gekauft hatte, wurde es gelinde gesagt nervig. Ich könnte immer eine aus einem Deck verwenden, das ich nicht spiele, aber das ist auch ärgerlich und zeitaufwändig, wenn ich es für mehrere Karten gleichzeitig mache.
Also fing ich an, was die meisten Leute tun, ist, Proxys auf einfachem Papier auszudrucken und sie mit einigen Standardländern zu umhüllen. Die Leute, mit denen ich spiele, waren sich alle einig, dass es nach einer Weile ein bisschen zu viel wurde. Und es gibt eine beträchtliche Anzahl von Karten, die nicht mehr gedruckt werden und schwer zu finden oder viel zu teuer sind.
Irgendwann damals und heute. Ich dachte mir, die Papier-Proxys sind ok. Aber ich könnte es besser machen. Ich habe Monate damit verbracht, viele verschiedene Methoden zu erforschen und auszuprobieren, mit denen Leute ihre Proxys herstellen. Ich bin zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass sich die Karten immer anders anfühlen werden als eine echte Karte. Aber in einer Hülle möchte ich, dass sie in Gewicht und Flexibilität nahezu identisch ist.
Und was ich mache und jetzt verkaufe, ist genau das: gute, günstige Proxys.
I started playing MTG again back in 2022 after a 7 year hiatus. And new to the format of Commander(EDH) I started to makes decks. I quickly learned that while most cards aren't that pricey. After buying the same $15-$20 card for the 5th time got annoying to say the least. I could always use one from a deck that I'm not playing, but that is also aggravating and time consuming when I'm doing it for multiple cards at a time.
So I started to, what most people have is just printing out proxies on basic paper and sleeving them with some basic lands. The people I play with all agreed that it got a bit much after a while. And there is a decent amount of cards that aren't printed anymore and are hard to find or far to expensive.
At some point during than and now. I thought to myself the paper proxies are ok. But I could do better. I spent months researching and testing out many different methods of of people make their proxies. What I settled on was the feel of the cards will always be different than a real card. But in a sleeve I want it to be near identical in weight and flex.
And what I make and now sell. Is exactly that. Good cheap proxies.
