Welcome to Firecrest handmade. I’m Vicky, an ecologist and papercut lighting artisan creating designs inspired by nature in the urban and wild. I make individual and original lamps and shades that create dappled, filtered and atmospheric lighting for a more natural and relaxing mood. I strive to provide a greener and more ethical alternative - focusing on recycled, locally and ethically sourced materials and low energy technology. Firecrest handmade designs will capture both your creative and environmental character.

As a child growing up in the Somerset country side near Glastonbury, nature and wildlife are close to my heart and soul and have shaped everything I do. I pursued my passion for nature by working and studying wildlife conservation, environment and ecology for 12 years before taking a break to bring up my children.
My papercuts depict nature and wildlife at its most serene and each bespoke design tells a different story. I love creating bespoke items and will work with you to make sure any custom made artwork is exactly as you want it. Firecrest handmade has strong environmental values and my new ranges all use environmentally friendly board which is a material made from 100% elemental chlorine free wood pulps, sourced from carefully managed and renewed forests. The papers are sourced from natural materials such as the handmade lokta paper which is not only beautifully textured creating a gorgeous ambiance but supports a cottage industry in its native region of Nepal. Closer to home the lampshade components are all British supplied and manufactured and packaging is recycled and/or biodegradable.
