Love these clips for my girls! So sturdy and really cute.
My name is Joanne and I can’t stop sewing
Sewing was always a “hobby” of mine passed down by my mother and aunt. I grew up watching them sew for a living. It was always something fun to do, and as I got older and better, I seem to want to spend more and more time doing it. I can’t remember the exact moment the obsession developed but it was sometime after a family friend gave me her old industrial singer. After I had unlimited access to that wonderful machine, the “hobby” ceased and the obsession began. Lucky for me it was after my husband proposed and was completely unaware of what that machine would bring. Before that sewing was just something I had mentioned I liked doing from time to time once or twice. It wasn’t like I was lying. I really wasn’t aware of what would soon happen. All I know is one day everything just clicked. I was whipping out adorable baby items for friends, place mats/aprons for weddings and curtains for our home. I couldn’t get enough. My husband understood that visits to the fabric store would happen weekly.
Time went on. We had a baby. Of course a new baby also meant more adorable sewing. People started telling me I should sell my items. At this point I had acquired quite a bit of fabric. I reasoned that I had nothing to lose by trying to sell items made from all these available material/scraps that I had acquired. So I opened my ETSY shop.
Then I discovered all these beautiful high quality fabrics from online sources that my local fabric shops never carried. My fabric piles begin to get bigger and bigger. My shop grows but it doesn’t exactly turned into the greatest money maker. Its more like a giant enabler to my addiction. However, its so much fun that I’m not quite ready to raise the white flag.
My husband has pretty much surrendered to my insanity. He and my children ignore the piles of fabric in the guest room, the closet, the bed, the couch and the dining room table.
My third baby led me to quit my full-time Graphic Design job so I can focus more on my sewing…I mean family.
Former full-time Graphic Designer turned Full-time wife and mom to 2 adorable girls who learned to sew from her Portuguese mama and tries to take any chance she gets to sew.
