Ich habe mit 9 Jahren angefangen, mit Lehm zu spielen. Ich fand es versteckt in der Küstenlinie in der Nähe der Seehütte unserer Familie im Norden von Minnesota. Ich grub es aus und machte Prise Töpfe, bemalte sie mit alten Ölfarben, die ich in unserem Schuppen fand. Seitdem habe ich hier und da ein paar Kurse besucht, 2014 meine Töpferscheibe gekauft und töpfere seitdem Vollzeit.

Töpfern ist ein zeit- und arbeitsintensives Unterfangen. Von dem Zeitpunkt an, an dem ein Objekt hergestellt wird, entweder auf dem Rad oder von Hand geformt, fließen viele Stunden Zeit und Mühe hinein, ebenso wie die Kosten für alle erforderlichen Materialien - Ton, Glasur, Vorräte, Strom usw Das Trimmen, Dekorieren (d. h. Schnitzen, Malen, Handdekorieren) kann Stunden dauern. Das Glasieren kann sehr zeitintensiv sein, da nicht alle Töpfer ihre Glasuren tauchen. Ich tauche meine Stücke selten ein, verwende aber meistens in bestimmten Kombinationen Pinselglasuren, die subtile Nuancen hinzufügen, die meine Arbeit einzigartig machen. Meistens bedeutet das Verglasen für mich viele Stunden Arbeit, Überlegung, Planung und Aufwand. Wenn du ein Stück meiner handgefertigten Keramik kaufst, bezahlst du für die Zeit und viele Stunden Mühe, die es gekostet hat, es in meinen Etsy-Shop zu bringen. Ich bin der Hersteller, Fotograf, Vermarkter und Alleininhaber von JMurray Studio und ich bin sehr stolz darauf, ein Produkt herzustellen, das wirklich und ehrlich handgefertigt ist.

I started playing with clay when I was 9 years old. I found it tucked into the shoreline near our family's lakeside cabin in northern Minnesota. I dug it out and made pinch pots, painting them with old oil paints that I found in our shed. Since then I've taken a few classes here and there, buying my potters wheel in 2014, and have been making pottery full time ever since.

Pottery is a time and labor-intensive endeavor. From the time an object is made, either on the wheel or hand-formed, many hours of time and effort go into it, as well as the expense of all of the materials that are needed - clay, glaze, supplies, electricity, etc. Trimming, decorating (i.e. carving, painting, hand-decoration) can take hours. Glazing can be very time-intensive, as not all potters dip their glazes. I rarely dip my pieces, but mostly use brush-on glazes in certain combinations, adding subtle nuances that make my work unique. Most of the time, glazing for me entails many hours of work, thought, planning and effort. When you buy a piece of my handmade pottery, you are paying for the time and many hours of effort that it took to bring it to my Etsy shop. I am the maker, photographer, marketer and sole proprietor of JMurray Studio and I take a lot of pride in making a product that is truly and honestly handmade.
