About

Because it's beautiful to be a little mad.

Mad Lab Cosmetics started as a personal project with making customized products for the sole reason of getting to truly "play" with my makeup. Given my tendencies towards wildly impractical solutions, everyone who ever heard of my project laughed and asked me if I was sitting in a basement pouring strange substances into test tubes, all while giggling maniacally. Thus, my workspace was dubbed the "mad lab".

Welcome to Mad Lab Cosmetics where experimentation borders on obsession. And where every individual is both mad scientist and test subject for the undying phantom we call beauty.

Additional policies and FAQs
-Why do some of my jars have less product in them?
Our jars are filled by weight and different shades will have different fill levels for the same weight.

~What sizes do you sell?
Mad Lab Cosmetics offers Sample, Mini, Full Size Deluxe, and Full Size Premium options.

Samples are 0.25g (approx. 1/8 tsp) in a resealable plastic bag. (Listed under Sample Sets)
Minis are 0.5g (approx. 1/3 tsp) in a 3g jar.
Full Size Deluxes are 1.6g (approx. 1 1/2 tsp) in a 10g jar with sifter.
Full Size Premiums are 3.2 g (approx. 3 tsp) in a 20g jar with sifter.

~How should I wear the products?
It is recommended to layer eyeshadows, including Mad Lab Cosmetics's, over a primer or sticky base. Applying with a patting motion tends to give a more opaque look that showcases the unique finish of the eyeshadow; while sweeping or blending often gives a more natural look that showcases the base colors.

If you experience fall out (product is falling off as you apply, landing on your cheeks) try tapping your brush to knock off excess color, then applying with a patting motion.

For face powders, a fluffy brush is recommended. Pick up a small amount and swirl the brush on a clean surface (the back of your hand, a palette, or product lid) to distribute the powder throughout the brush. Softly pat the brush on the desired areas and then blend.

~Isn't loose powder very messy?
Only if they are spilled or stored improperly. Jars should be stored lid-up and sample bags should be securely closed after use.

If you purchase the regular Full Size, be sure to tap it on the table before opening, as the jars are very full.

If you purchase a Full Size Deluxe or Premium, the sifter will help keep the product from spilling out. If you would like even more control over amount of product, do not remove the entire sifter sticker, instead cut out a portion covering 1-3 holes.

~Are your items vegan and cruelty-free?
Unless specifically stated, all items are vegan and cruelty-free. Products are tested by myself and volunteers.

~Are your products safe?
All products are made in a sanitized work environment. All tools are cleaned and sterilized before and during the creation of each batch, gloves, face masks, and hair covers are worn throughout production.
*Gloves are not worn during labeling and packing, so there is a possibly of fingerprints on the exterior of products, however there will never be contact with the makeup itself.
