I just cant resist a fiber challenge
I've been sewing since age 5 with my mother. We bonded over the years in the fabric stores. I've sewn everything from Winter coats to Lingerie. Never having a sewing class, I've just had an insatiable need to "Make Something", with a stubbornness to "figure it out myself". I've tried it all and love it all; embroidering, cross stitch needlepoint, macrame, punch rugs, hook rugs, my own invention rugs, weaving, bead weaving, spinning, croquet and knitting.
I dove into knitting 16 years ago when my father was diagnosed with cancer. My husband, daughter and I, lived 7 hours away and made many trips to see him. Knitting was the best, portable and comforting thing I could do in the car. Teaching myself was an enjoyable challenge, that diverted my worries, but gave me plenty of time to pray. When he died 5 years later, I had gained a lot of experience and a growing stash.
One day a friend at work was talking about all the things I've made for her grandchildren. Then she asked, "Can you make me a monkey hat, I'd be happy to pay you for it." When I brought it in, the orders started flying. What about a Giraffe, a Frog, a Penguin... and the list continues.
Being a Mom and working full time, slows me down from conquering all these challenges. But don't worry, I love a knitting challenge, just wait and see them all in my store. As long as people request them, I'll be working on them along with the other fiber crafts I can't stop doing.
