Ich heiße Simone, und ich zeichne und male, seit meine molligen kleinen Finger einen Buntstift und einen Pinsel greifen konnten!
Ich ging aufs College und verließ es mit einem BFA, dann verbrachte ich ein paar Jahre freiberuflich als Künstlerassistent, Wandmaler, Faux-Finisher, Storyboard-Künstler, Illustrator, Bühnenbildner und Maler für Off-Broadway-Theater in NY. Während meiner abwechslungsreichen Arbeitsabenteuer studierte ich weiterhin Kunst, insbesondere traditionelle Porträts in Öl an der School of Visual Art in Manhattan. Dann brachte mich die Liebe von NY nach LA und da meine Welt bereits auf den Kopf gestellt wurde, beschloss ich, einzuspringen und für mich selbst zu arbeiten, um Porträts zu malen! Ich habe einen wunderbaren Mann geheiratet, der Schriftsteller ist und mein Bedürfnis zu malen, zu malen, zu malen, zu malen!
Ich liebe es zu malen und ich muss täglich Kunst machen - es ist keine Wahl für mich. Ich interessiere mich für alle möglichen Themen, aber was ich am meisten daran liebe, Porträts zu malen, ist, dass sie für meine Kunden so bedeutungsvoll sind. Es macht den ganzen Prozess so viel spezieller.
Ich liebe die Unmittelbarkeit und Subtilität des Aquarells. Es ist nicht das einzige Medium, in dem ich arbeite, aber es ist das, womit ich täglich male, sei es ein Porträt oder eine kurze Skizze aus meinem täglichen Leben.
Portrait-Prozess
Porträts beginnen mit Fotos, die mir über Etsy oder E-Mail zugesandt werden, und einem Gespräch darüber, wie der Kunde und ich uns das fertige Produkt vorstellen. Ich mache dann eine erste Skizze und schicke sie zur Genehmigung zurück, bevor ich mit dem Malen beginne. Normalerweise aktualisiere ich jeden Kunden mit 1-5+ Prozessfotos, während ich weitermache, und sende dann eine letzte .jpg zur Genehmigung, bevor ich das Porträt in die Post stelle. Dieser Prozess ist der beste Weg, um sicherzustellen, dass das Endprodukt einfach perfekt ist.
Aufgrund der Benutzerfreundlichkeit der Porträts kann ihre Fertigstellungszeit variieren, insbesondere wenn ich an mehreren gleichzeitig arbeite. Thank you for your virtual visit to my custom portrait etsy shop!
I go by the name Simone, and I have been drawing and painting since my chubby little fingers could grab a crayon and a brush!
I went to college and left with a BFA, then spent a few years working freelance as an artist assistant, mural painter, faux finisher, story board artist, illustrator, set builder and painter for off-Broadway theater in NY. All throughout my varied work adventures, I continued to study art, specifically traditional portraiture in oils at the School of Visual Art in Manhattan. Then, love brought me to LA from NY and since my world was already turned upside down, I decided to jump in and work for myself painting portraits! I married a wonderful man who is a writer and totally understands my need to paint, paint, paint!
I love to paint and I need to do art daily - it is not a choice for me. I am interested in all sorts of subject matters, but what I love most about painting portraits is that they are so meaningful to my customers. It makes the whole process that much more special.
I love the immediacy and subtlety of watercolor. It is not the only medium I work in, but it is what I paint with daily, whether a portrait or a quick sketch from my daily life.
Portrait Process
Portraits start with photos sent to me through etsy or email, and a conversation about how the client and I envision the finished product. I then do an initial sketch and send it back for approval before I start painting. I typically update each customer with anywhere from 1-5+ process photos as I go along, then send a final .jpg for approval before putting the portrait in the mail. This process is the best way to ensure that the final product is just perfect.
Because of the custom nature of the portraits, their completion time can vary, especially if I am working on several at once. The best way to get the portrait you want in time for when you need it is to check in with me about my current turnaround time, and let me know your personal deadline.
