Every bag has a story
Hallo! Nach Jahren der Arbeit auf dem Capitol Hill und dann einem 18-monatigen Roadtrip auf dem PanAmerican Highway (bis nach Argentinien!), ließ ich mich zusammen mit meinem wunderbar geduldigen und unterstützenden Ehemann in St. Petersburg, FL, nieder. Dieser Übergang im Leben gab mir die Möglichkeit, das zu tun, was ich liebe – zu schaffen. Jeden Tag kann ich aufwachen und mit meinen Händen etwas Greifbares machen. Ich kann Stoffe aufwerten, Mode und Funktion vermischen und einzigartige Handtaschen kreieren.
:::DER ANFANG:::
Spring Green Handbags entstand aus dem Wunsch nach der ultimativen Handtasche. Ich konnte einfach keine Handtasche finden, die alle meine Bedürfnisse erfüllte. Ich wollte nämlich eine Handtasche, die sowohl modisch als auch funktional ist. Eine scheinbar einfache Bitte, aber dennoch so schwer fassbar. Also setzte ich mich an meine Nähmaschine und kanalisierte die Energie und die Can-Do-Einstellung (manche mögen es Sturheit nennen) aus der langen Reihe von Nähfrauen, aus der ich komme. Durch Leidenschaft, Frustration, Erfahrung und viele VIELE Stunden des Entwerfens, Schneidens, Nähens und erneuten Ausprobierens kam die "Journey Bag" aus Leder zum Tragen. Es ist langlebig, modisch, bequem, verwendet upgecyceltes Material für die Taschen und hält alle meine Notwendigkeiten sicher und geschützt. Und damit wurde Spring Green Handbags auf den Markt gebracht.

Spring Green Handbags ist stolz darauf, upgecycelten Stoff in jede einzelne Handtasche zu integrieren. Ledergeldbörsen haben Spaß upgecycelte Stoffe in den Taschen, Sackleinentaschen werden aus Jute-Kaffeesäcken und Vinyl-Billboard-Fehldrucken hergestellt, Vintage-Karten sind aus den 1950er Jahren Weltatlanten laminiert ...
Als lebenslang begeisterter Sparer (und aus einer großen Familie von Sparsamen) fand ich ständig fabelhafte alte Schals, Krawatten, Kleider, Röcke, Tischdecken usw., die beiseite geworfen worden waren, aber immer noch so viel Potenzial hatten! Bevor ich überhaupt mit Spring Green Handbags anfing, hatte ich Mülleimer voller lustiger Cast-offs mit Plänen, diese bunten Stoffe wiederzuverwenden. Jetzt, da Frühlingsgrüne Handtaschen in vollem Gange sind, habe ich einen legitimen Grund, alle meine Lieblings-Secondhand-Läden und Flohmärkte :) zu besuchen!

Im Laufe der Zeit hat sich meine Produktlinie weiterentwickelt und erweitert, um eine Vielzahl von Handtaschen, Beuteln, Tragetaschen, Clutches und anderen Taschen zu umfassen, mit dem Ziel, Funktion, Mode und Upcycling zu kombinieren. Ob es sich um eine Karte aus einem alten Atlas, das Vinyl von einer "Steak 'n Shake" -Werbetafel oder eine Ledertasche mit einem Vera Wang-Schal für eine Tasche handelt, jede Tasche hat eine Geschichte. Jede Tasche wird mit einer Notiz geliefert, die ihre einzigartige Geschichte beschreibt.
Hi there! After years of working on Capitol Hill and then an 18 month road trip down the PanAmerican Highway (all the way to Argentina!), I settled in St. Petersburg, FL along with my wonderfully patient and supportive husband. That transition in life gave me the opportunity to do what I love – create. Everyday I get to wake up and make something tangible with my hands. I get to upcycle fabrics, blend fashion and function, and create one-of-a-kind handbags.
:::THE BEGINING:::
Spring Green Handbags was born from a desire for the ultimate handbag. I simply couldn't find a handbag that met all my needs. Namely, I wanted a handbag that was both fashionable and functional. A seemingly simple request, but yet, so elusive. So I sat down at my sewing machine and channeled the energy and can-do attitude (some may call it stubbornness) from the long line of sewing women from which I come. Through passion, frustration, experience, and many MANY hours of designing, cutting, sewing, and trying again, the leather "Journey Bag" came into fruition. It is durable, fashionable, comfortable, uses upcycled fabric for the pockets, and holds all my necessities safely and securely. And with that, Spring Green Handbags was launched.

Spring Green Handbags proudly incorporates upcycled fabric into every single handbag. Leather purses have fun upcycled fabrics in the pockets, burlap bags are crafted from jute coffee sacks and vinyl billboard misprints, vintage maps are laminated from 1950's world atlases...
As a lifelong avid thrifter (and from a large family of thrifters), I was constantly finding fabulous old scarves, neck ties, dresses, skirts, table clothes, etc. that had been cast aside but still had so much potential! Before even starting Spring Green Handbags I had bins full of fun cast-offs with plans to reuse these colorful fabrics. Now with Spring Green Handbags in full swing, I have a legitimate reason to visit all my favorite thrift stores and flea markets :)!
:::EVERY BAG HAS A STORY:::
Over time, my product line has evolved and expanded to include a wide variety handbags, pouches, totes, clutches, and other bags all with the goal of combining function, fashion, and upcycling. Whether it's a map from an old atlas, the vinyl from a "Steak 'n Shake" billboard, or a leather tote with a Vera Wang scarf for a pocket, every bag has a story. Each bag is shipped with a note detailing its one-of-a-kind story.
