Make little things with great love
My name is Francesca, I'm 25 years old and I was born in Livorno, but recently moved to Soriano nel Cimino, a charming mountain village in the province of Viterbo (near Rome).
I moved here because I love the place where I live now, in the middle of nature! My house is at the forest's feet, leading up to the Monti Cimini.
For me it is very important to always be in contact with nature, so here I found my ideal habitat, where I get daily Inspiration for my work.
I'm inspired by the world around me, by its colors, by the small and simple things that nature has to offer, which I love to capture... A falling leaf, a butterfly’s flight, the rustling wind, the forest’s whispers. The purity of nature. Well... All this with a pinch of magic, enchantment and fantasy.
The forest is my source of inspiration for excellence! The wild nature at its maximum splendor fascinates and intrigues me completely, I never get tired of it.
I happily abandoned my graphic designer job and I think I have made the best choice of my life! Now, being a full time (self-taught) artist, and my own boss, I can constantly feed my creativity.
I love my work and the best thing is working from home! This way I always have my loves around, cheering me up for some good inspiration and precious support.
I mainly work with carded wool, using the needle felting technique, and I realize from small to medium sized sculptures. I also use another technique, the wet felting, to realize my wool paintings.
I like to vary, however, to experience new techniques and materials, combining different elements depending on the result I want to achieve.
I also draw, paint, and catch myself into visual arts such as illustrations and watercolor paintings.
However, all my creations are connected to each other, being all animal/nature themed: I feel connected to nature in a very special way and this is reflected in my artworks, where animals are usually the protagonists.
I don’t know why, but I’m obsessed with foxes. Infact, that’s where my shop’s name came from: “La Volpe Cimina” means the fox living in the Monti Cimini. I believe it is my spirit animal since I was a child.
My childhood was influenced by the love of a special grandmother, who taught me to never stop dreaming and gave me life lessons I will never forget. I was the little dreamer of the farm, with a brush in hand and a bottle of milk in the other. I drew foxes stealing grapes for my grandfather and sly cats for my grandmother. Finally ... I was telling all excited about my adventures to the stars in the sky before going to sleep.
Today, with these special memories in my heart, I keep dreaming, giving shape and life to my creations.
