ABOUT TIMBE CRAFTS
Timbe Crafts was born from a simple idea: one extraordinary natural material deserves to be rediscovered.
For more than three decades, Tim Bernhardt has worked exclusively with agave wood, transforming the flowering stem of this remarkable plant into handcrafted musical instruments, contemporary artworks and artisan creations. What was once an overlooked natural resource has become the foundation of a unique craft that combines tradition, innovation and responsible use of nature.
Every creation is handmade in the Almería Desert, in southern Spain, where the Agave Artisan Centre brings together a working workshop, showroom and visitor experience. More than a place to create objects, it is a living space where craftsmanship, culture and sustainability come together.
Over the years, Timbe Crafts has evolved beyond a workshop. Through exhibitions, educational programmes, artist collaborations and international cultural projects, agave wood has become a common language that connects people, ideas and traditions across borders. Each collaboration brings new perspectives, enriching a craft that continues to evolve while remaining deeply rooted in its Andalusian origins.
Today, the Agave Artisan Centre is recognised not only for its handcrafted creations, but also as a centre for innovation, education and cultural exchange around agave wood. The project has received several of Andalusia's highest recognitions for craftsmanship, sustainability and tourism, including Punto de Interés Artesanal, Calidad Artesanal de Andalucía, the SICTED Tourism Quality Distinction, and the Marca Parque Natural de Andalucía.
Every creation reflects the same philosophy: respect for nature, exceptional craftsmanship and the belief that meaningful objects should carry a story, create connections and endure for generations.
