This made the perfect Christmas gift for my sister. She and I have been traveling together on adventures almost our whole lives. For Christmas, I printed out one pic (which was hard when some trips had over 1000 pics!) from each voyage and put in the book. The last pic was an itinerary for our next adventure. We only filled half the book since I added extra pages--lots of adventures left to be undertaken. Thank you for being such a special part of our celebration and wishing you only the best in the new year!
From a boat in Alaska, to the streets of Latin America....books, books, books.
We're physically located in central Argentina, but I'm from Oregon originally. We ship to our US distributor about every 7 to 15 days, so you only pay shipping from the US. Our turn around varies! Send us an email to find out what the current wait time is. Usually, we can get an order to you in about 1 to 3 weeks, depending where we are in the cycle.
All of this began on a boat in Alaska in the 90s, where I made my first (soggy) books. After traveling and binding for years, Magu and I began offering our custom bookbinding services on the Internet in 2001.
We are a small family business at the end of a dirt road in the countryside, grateful everyday that we get to wake up each morning and create books for folks all across the planet. Since 2001, we have shipped custom books to just about everywhere: to tiny islands in the South Pacific, the Maldivas, Japan, South Africa, literally every state in the USA, not to mention Australia, New Zealand and many parts of Europe. I wonder at the places our books continue to travel while we get used to staying pretty much in one place.
Transient Books is made possible by many: our US distributor in Oregon, my brother Rick Busch who set up the site originally (we’ve since become our own webmasters), the USPS delivery guys in Oregon, not to mention a whole string of suppliers, supporters, family, and enthusiasts in both North and South America.
Mostly, Transient Books is made possible by its varied and hugely interesting clients. We never cease to be surprised and humbled by the individuals who appear in our inbox with their memorable ideas and enthusiasm.

Magu & Alex Appella
Magu is from Córdoba, Argentina and Alex is from Oregon, USA. Magu the musician. Alex the writer. Together, we're Transient Books.
Caro is our right hand here in the studio. While Magu and I race around (tracking down materials, doing admin, attending the clients and the children), Caro patiently makes headway on the ever growing stack of books that need to be completed.
Jennifer (the tall one!) and I have been friends since 7th grade. She took over as our US distributor in early 2016 and it has been a dream to have an excuse to be in touch all the time. She's the one that makes those books go out all over the world!
