About

Earth Friendly Fashion

Where Clothes sprung from a love of creating and a passion for the environment. My intent is to counteract the fashion industry's detrimental relationship with the environment and humanity. Using upcycled materials allows Where Clothes to avoid being a part of fabric mill pollution and unfair labor.

Even if you are not into fashion, clothes are something that we think about every day. Unfortunately, the fashion industry accounts for a frighteningly large amount of the world's pollution, not to mention the unfair treatment of laborers. Where Clothes' goal is not only to provide people with an irresistible option that they can feel good about wearing, but also to raise awareness about the power of reusing and recycling.

I began my shop in 2009, while working at a used record store and teaching art classes. I am so thankful for my past experiences and all they have taught me, but over the years I have been diligently sewing and learning so I can run my line full time.

I also love being on the runway, so with the help from my friends Nick and Matt at Angioplasty Media and MSR Presents, I began "Crosswalk: A Fashion Show Styled by Sound" last July. It is an annual fashion show featuring indie designers with models walking to live music on the runway. Best of all, 100% of proceeds go to the Committee on Temporary Shelter, a VT organization that provides housing, food, and education to the homeless population.

Thank you for reading about my shop! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you!!

Welcome to Where Clothes!

Where Clothes is an earth friendly clothing line handmade in Richmond, VT. Everything is designed and constructed by Amy Wild, who uses vintage, antique, and recycled materials. Where Clothes was created in 2009 on the belief that buying clothing made from vintage and upcycled materials protects the environment and humanity. When you buy Where, you are not supporting fabric mill pollution or unfair labor. Not only do vintage fabrics last longer than a lot of the materials made today, but when reconstructed they become one of a kind, making each outfit completely unique.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Money Order
  • Other Method
Payment
I accept credit/debit cards directly through etsy! I also accept money orders. If you cannot pay with any of these methods, please send me a conversation and I would be happy to work something out with you!
Shipping
Everything is packaged with 100% re-used and recycled materials!

Once I have received payment, I will ship the item(s) immediately. I pack very carefully, and ship UPS or USPS depending on size/weight. If the item arrives damaged (though this should not happen because of the care I put into packing items) I will fix it for you at no cost. Just send it back to me and allow 2 weeks for me to return it.

I will always provide a tracking numbers (except for international orders as it is not possible); but if you want insurance as well, just ask!

I can also ship items overnight or second day air for an extra cost.
Refunds and Exchanges
I accept returns, but the item must be returned to me within one week of receiving it. I will refund you minus the shipping cost. I cannot be held responsible for items being lost in the mail, as I get tracking numbers for everything I ship.
Additional policies and FAQs
:::CUSTOM ORDERS:::

I take custom orders all the time (if they are within my means), and always enjoy a new challenge! Please allow up to 2 weeks for me to create your piece depending on how detailed the design is. The item will be priced depending on materials, detail, and the amount of time for construction.

My silkscreen ink and fabric colors/patterns are endless, so don't hesitate to custom design something!

:::WASHING INSTRUCTIONS:::

Screen printed items can be washed and dried normally.

Everything else: Because most of my material is vintage or antique, I recommend gently hand washing and drying flat to preserve the fabric. In some cases I recommend eco-dry cleaning- it will say in the item description.

:::KIDS/BABY CLOTHING:::

Tees, leggings, and onesies are made from NEW cotton, not vintage or upcycled like my adult clothing. Everything is still ethically made in the USA. The applique however, is made from vintage and upcycled materials.

:::TREASURE MAP ITEMS:::

Coloration will vary slightly with each item as fabric is hand dyed in small batches. Placement of the treasure map print will also vary slightly with each piece.

Any suggestions? Comments? Requests? Please send me a conversation, I would love to hear what you have to say!
