I have a degree in Fine Art and used to make film- and photography-installations and took part in exhibitions.

One day I made a bag for myself because I couldn't find one that I wanted and people started to stop me in the street to ask me where I got my bag.

I'm a bit of a rebel and wanted to rid myself of all the dogmas of what art and design should be, so I used lace and pictures of pin-ups and a whole lot of campy materials. The pin-up bags I used to send to my friend in London who sold them on Portobello market for good money.

The name Ampule originates from one of my first short films which featured a giant glass ampule. The fluid it contained magically changed colour all the time and brought colour to the main character's life.

I don't design my bags, I build them. The first one always takes days and sometimes weeks. I keep reinventing the wheel.

Next to the bags I make small purses like the Vulvettes. They're really popular on the internet (they pop up on all kinds of blogs and they featured in U.S. Glamour magazine) and among my social circle. Also I have shipped quite a few abroad. They found new owners in Australia, Italy, the U.S., you name it. Dubai, even. There have been discussions about them on the internet. Why would you want a vulva on a purse? Well, WHY NOT?

I never stopped taking photographs and making films and at some point it will all come together *stay tuned*.

All items are made on the sewing machine my father bought for my mother over 30 years ago. It's sturdy and brilliant. They don't make 'em like that anymore!

Everything you see in my shop is made, styled and photographed by me. I'm a one-woman business.

Sewing is a lot of work, it's not easy and it's slow. But the results always outshine the blood sweat and tears. PLUS I love to make people happy with something beautiful :).
