About

Journals with soul

I share my day between my studio, at home, and the afternoon in my studio in Coimbra. There I have an "open studio", where a visitor can come and see me working, mainly with papier mâché projects. This studio belongs to Galeria Bar Santa Clara, in the south of Mondego River. Come and see!

As a designer and artist, I can't do just one thing and keep repeating it! I work in papier mâché (mainly projects by order), I create and produce journals, I make tiles and baby products (mainly bedding), I paint and work in linocut design. I love nature and photography and all these expressions come together in things I do. In 2011 I received the second national award of contemporary handcrafts, with a papier mâché project.

You can visit my site www.avedouda.com, where I have more things about myself and my work. All things that influence my work. Unfortunately is not updated so often as I would like, however when I work in the site I can't produce my things!

Avedouda's name origin: I have my own Trade Mark: Avedouda®, underside has the story of the dodo. A bird of Mauritius, which evolved from a pigeon. Without predators it grew and lost the ability to fly. In 1505 the first Portuguese arrived on the island and it was baptised “Doudou” (“Crazy”) as it did not offered resistance to capture. The island was also populated by other people, and animals (such as monkeys, pigs and others) which destroyed their eggs. The Dodo became extinct in 1680. Avedouda® chose this symbol as a message of change our role in preserving the environment on Earth. "Bird Dodo" is its meaning.

Welcome to Avedouda®!

As the products are made by hand and worked individually they have the caracter and the quality of handmade products.

I try to make the best photographs but colours can have a little difference due to the computer monitors and light from the photographs. The Avedouda produces all items by hand, thus all parts must be regarded as a hand made product produced manually and not by machines, this means that any "error" should be taken as a feature rather than as a defect.

Please feel free to convo me if you have any questions.
You can have a look at my blog:

Shipping
I ship worldwide with the Portuguese Post, CTT. All items are shipped within 3 days of receipt of payment (except where otherwise duly noted with the exception of weekends and public holidays). I send items by registered post, to be sure they will reach their destination.
Post Office are closed on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

You can expect your package to arrive between 3-10 business days if you are based within Europe and 8-20 business days if you are based outside Europe. (This is of course not excluding any unforeseen delays ie. customs, Holiday rush, extreme weather conditions, etc.)
Products send to Europe will arrive in a week, and to Portugal will arrive on the day after the posted date. I will send you a confirmation message when your item has been sent, and I can trace it until it reaches you.

Please check for the shipping price on the item you want to purchase.

I can't be responsible for costs and delays related with customs.

CANADA, please I will not be able to ensure delivery on shipments send to Canada until the end of strikes.

Please keep in mind that some countries charge customs fess and extra taxes upon arrival. This is a free that the customer is responsible for; unfortunately I have no way of calculating which countries and which items will receive additional duties or taxes (if at all) and is solely based on each countries laws and regulations.

I always ship to the address on the Etsy invoice, if you want to receive it at another address, please let me know.
Refunds and Exchanges
My customers' happiness is very important to me, so please contact me if there is a problem, I will do my best to sort it out.
In returns the items must be shipped at buyer's expense. Buyer has the option to receive a refund less shipping charges or exchange for another item and pay any additional shipping. Buyer also must have a delivery confirmation number on any returned packages to help track back any purchases. Returns have to be done until a a week after receiving it by customer, in good conditions as they were shipped by myself.
Additional policies and FAQs
Feedbacks are very important to me. I always worry when my packs are in the post, so it would be nice to know when they reached you. It would be also nice to know whether you liked them. :)
