Creating Inspirational Illustrations
As a child I use to pour over my mother's extensive library, pulling each mystery and romance novel carefully off her wooden shelves, imagining what it would be like to paint each stroke of texture. That passion for creating stories through the aesthetics of paint have molded my career and life.
Not only do I now paint for publication but I also write my own stories. In 2012 I launched a kickstarter campaign that funded an ebook on animals as historical characters. The idea was inspired by my basset hound, Roscoe, who passed away before the completion of the book. Twenty five percent of the proceeds went to an animal rescue named Big Cat Rescue.
That journey produced over 20 glorified pet portraits for happy animal owners, an ebook PDF, numerous mini calendars for 2014 and a new relationship with a literary agent. I am currently polishing "Animals From History" before releasing it in the wilds of publication pitching.
I continue to illustrate for art directors as well as create custom portraits for clients interested in memorializing their favorite animals. Not only do I love painting anthropomorphic illustrations but I thrive on collaborating with others.
