A recent promo "featured artists" description:
Karen, of kbdesignsetc, has never been able to resist her attraction to stones, textures and the inherent beauty of nature.
This passion revealed itself at an early age.
Simply,
Karen could not resist collecting “neat things” from her yard, the woods, the paths, or from anywhere she traipsed.
She began to craft jewelry with these "neat" findings at the age of seven .
The teenage years revealed an additional passion, photography.
Driven by a desire to capture the subtle intricacies and textures of nature, she spent many, many late nights in her college's photography darkroom.
These artistic passions were set aside for the next few decades as she focused her attention on professional pursuits.
However, the desire to craft a decidedly spectacular hand-made necklace for her sister in 2007 brought her heartfelt passion rushing back.
This passion could no longer be denied.
Karen, as kbdesignsetc, lovingly creates each of her unique artisan pieces in her 1900’s Connecticut field stone carriage house workshop.
Her custom jewelry reflects the joy she finds in the unique textures, colors and beauty of nature, as well as allowing her to express her curiosity about designs, textures, human nature and Mother Nature.
The original stone lapidary work affords increased novelty to her pieces.
Hand-forged metals, featuring sterling silver, along with unique, natural stones and photographic expressions remain at the heart of kbdesignsetc custom jewelry and art.
kbdesignsetc artisan creations can be found and have been featured at the prestigous Silvermine Art Guild in New Canaan, CT., the Lillian August flagship store in Norwalk, CT., The Silver Spoon and Depot Street Gallery in Ludlow, VT., as well as a select number of retail stores.
kbdesignsetc encourages support and contributes via fund-raising for Builders Beyond Borders and Project Return.
