Giving animals dignity thru my art!
I have been a pet caregiver all my adult life. It seemed like all the broken and old ones seem to find me. So I took them in and would give them the best life ever til their very end.
I always have been crafty and artistic. I feel I got my sewing skills from my Grandmother and my artistic skills from my grandfather. Both on my dads side of the family. I would take every art and crafts class in school and would seek out fun arty events each weekend.
I loved to draw with pencils and eventually got into ceramics and found that was fulfilling as well!
I never tried to paint and in 2014 decided that I would give it a go! It was very awkward at first but I got the hang of it and eventually I became very comfortable with painting.
With practice, I became good enough to feel confident to take on custom pet portrait orders. The more I created, the more work I got. Then I decided to apply for our local Open Studios Art Tour in 2015 and got in the first try! I was excited and afraid at the same time. But I came up with a plan and created my first series 'Farm Critters" . I have been an Open Studio Artist ever since!
I paint every day whether it is a commissioned piece or just something fun that I wanted to challenge myself with.
