I have been an artist my entire life....
Hi there, My name is Suzanne and I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. My mom said I was drawing before I was talking :)
Growing up I always remember blank pieces of paper at the kitchen table, with pencils, paint, etc. (coloring books were not allowed in our home) Halloween decorations on the window, were always created by our hands, never store bought. I always knew in grade school, and high school that I would be an artist as a profession - but at the time didn't know what that 'looked like" or meant. I eventually studied Fine Art at a local university and graduated with a painting major.
I have always loved drawing birds, women and anything fashion related. My style evolved with stripes, swirls and I added my original Poetry. I always loved writing, but what was more story telling in my youth evolved into Poems.
When I start a new piece, I usually start with the poem - that can guide the artwork. I have a notebook I carry with me -and always am writing down words, ideas - until eventually I have a full poem. Many times, the poem will just flow out - other times its more of a process. I also start with thumbnails and sketches of ideas for the visual aspect. Sketches of birds, nature - and faces are non-stop swirling around in my mind.
I love taking a pattern, and painted texture and combining with my drawings and paintings. I like to mix the traditional methods of painting and drawing - with the digital aspect. Some of my pieces can take months, and many times I stop and start new ones, and then revisit previous pieces. It just depends on my mood - what I am feeling. I love adding a new piece in my shop - and love knowing that my poetry or art inspires others around the world. xo
