~ Quintessential Forest Camouflage for Goddesses ~
Over a decade ago Kate & her partner Bez set off on a six month adventure to travel around India & Nepal. Throughout those magickal months she carried with her a sketch book, filling it with designs as she travelled from state to colourful state. The vibrant culture, colours, materials & aromas where a truly inspirational assault on the senses. Soon her sketch book was filled with ideas & it was time to bring those drawings into the real world. And so began the technodolly clothing label.
In time her business evolved from importing her designs from Craft Centre Nepal (an ethical clothes making company in Nepal) to making everything herself. With a keen eye for detail & passion for clothes that are comfortable, whiles looking great & lasting the tides of time, she embarked on a lasting collection that continues to look fresh whiles offering a unique style for each individual.
Today Kate continues to custom make each garment from her collection, offering nearing a hundred unique designs. She takes great care in choosing fabrics that are dyed in the UK, & so are regulated under the UK's dying laws, going some way towards limiting the amount of pollutants that can contaminate mother earth's precious sources of water. All the materials she uses she hand picks herself to ensure that they are of a fine quality & soft to the touch. Everything from communicating with customers, right through to the finished garment & finally the shipping is actualised by Kate.
When asking Kate about her intentions this is how she answered ~
'After giving Bobkin (General Morale Officer & writer of this story) her morning brush & breakfast, I like to meditation or take a walk in the wild Pennine hills before plunging into the day ahead. This helps me start the day with a calm & clear mind, meaning I'm able to focus on the tasks ahead without distraction. As each design is custom made for the individual it's very important for me to have a balanced & attentive mind so I'm able to give full attention to cutting & sewing each & every garment. It's of utmost importance to me that I offer every client a perfect piece of clothing that they will cherish & wear for a long time.'
Kate has accumulated a variety of old & new sewing machines to assist her clothes making, each has a name & personality of they're own. She takes great care in maintaining Berny, Toya & Frizzy, oiling & tuning them regularly. Sometimes she spends more time fussing over the machines than me! Outrageous! She also has a 1950's Singer 99k hand-crank, so if any Solar Storms should happen to take out the grid she can continue to make clothes from whatever is left behind. Maybe a cat bed for me :) Meow.
Kate's thoughts for the future ~
'My goal for the future is to create an organic & fairtrade range of designs, offering a more eco-friendly angle to technodolly or ecodolly :)'
I will leave you now with a few wonderful quotes from happy customers ~
'I fell in love with the druid outfit. Kate made a custom listing for me and worked really hard to have the dress ready and shipped in time for an event. It all worked out great and it arrived way before the event! The druid dress was even more beautiful than I thought it would be. The fabric feels soft, the fitting is beautiful (slimming even) and the sleeves are too. This is now one of my favourite dresses and I thank Kate for her wonderful designs and service! :)'

'Right off the bat, when I got my package and opened it, I was instantly in love! And I'm going to order another soon in another color. the fit is perfect and the structure is great and I love the color. and so soft and warm, I'm wearing it everywhere today while I run errands and work. Technodolly herself was incredible fun and easy to deal with. Super friendly sparkly and very accommodating my my tons of curious questions and working out the fun details of my custom swirly faerie jacket!'

'Technodolly is amazing. She's very kind and courteous. I had some ideas in mind and she was very willing to add them to my coat. Technodolly is now one of my favourite sellers on Etsy.'
