why I make
Ich bin in der 7. Klasse zufällig auf meine Liebe zum Nähen gestoßen. Ich nahm Kleidung als Wahlfach und war sofort davon angetan, wie erstaunlich es war, mit ein paar Stoffstücken und einer Nadel und einem Faden etwas Schönes und Funktionales zu schaffen. Es dauerte jedoch bis zur Geburt meines 3. Kindes, bis ich mich wirklich darauf einließ. Ich erinnere mich, dass ich mich nach einem Stil umsah, den ich im Sinn hatte und nicht finden konnte, wonach ich suchte, also beschloss ich, einfach etwas selbst zu machen. Ich begann mit Decken und Rülpstüchern und Lätzchen, und meine Leidenschaft für das Herstellen von Dingen wuchs von da an.
Es gibt so viele Gründe, warum ich quilte und nähe. Meine Liebe zum Stoff steuerte dieses Hobby von mir. Das Mischen von Mustern und das Kombinieren verschiedener Farbkombinationen könnte mein Lieblingsteil des Herstellungsprozesses sein. Ich liebe es, meine Hände zu beschäftigen und zu sehen, wie eine Idee, die ich in meinem Kopf habe, zum Leben erweckt wird, und ich liebe die Idee, etwas Nützliches zu schaffen, das weitergegeben werden und durch die Geschichte einer Familie reisen könnte. Ich kann Ihnen nicht sagen, welche Freude und welches Glück ich bekomme, wenn ich Babys, Kinder und Mamas und alle anderen sehe, die in etwas verwickelt sind, das ich geschaffen habe.
Ich hoffe, mit jedem Ding, das ich erschaffe, eine Geschichte zu erzählen, aber mehr als das, ich hoffe, dass das, was ich erschaffe, ein Teil der Geschichte einer anderen Familie wird.

I happened upon my love of sewing in the 7th grade. I took Clothing as an elective and was immediately taken by how amazing it was to create something both beautiful and functional with a couple pieces of fabric and a needle and thread. It wasn't until the birth of my 3rd child that I really got into it, though. I remember looking around for a style I had in mind and couldn't find what I was looking for, so I decided to just make something on my own. I started with blankets and burp cloths and bibs, and my passion for making things just grew from there.
There are so many reasons I quilt and sew. My love of fabric steered this hobby of mine. Mixing patterns and combining different color combinations might be my favorite part of the making process. I love to busy my hands and see an idea I have in my head come to life, and I really love the idea of creating something useful that might be passed along and travel through a family's history. I cannot tell you the joy and happiness I get from seeing babies and children and mamas and everyone else wrapped up in something I created.
I hope to tell a story with each thing I create, but more than that, I hope what I create becomes a part of another family's story.
