We are two busy working mums. We met at work and had a lot in common, trying to juggle being working mums, keeping the guilt at bay and making sure we balanced the demands of careers, diets (ha, we talked about it at least) and wanting to be great mums for our little ones.
Between us we have over 30 years experience of working with and supporting children, young people and families across multiple sectors including teaching, social care and Safeguarding.
We really just want to help families to achieve positive relationships and create meaningful memories and keepsakes along the way, using what ever skills and resources you have at the time, not what you wish you had.
As we got to know each other we soon found we were sharing stories and comparing ourselves against each other, both thinking the other looked like they were doing a much better job and acing it. We realised we were comparing (that’s bad for you if you didn’t already know) and that jealousy was making us work hard to try and keep up with the other one, and it was bloody exhausting and not fun. As soon as we talked about it though, it went away. Instead we started opening up about our Pinterest fails and abandoned projects and were able to laugh at ourselves and realised we were NOT in competition.
So we started helping each other instead, sharing ideas where we found small wins, easy activities, freebies, things we thought the other would be able to do or their children would like. This led to us thinking that other busy mums perhaps didn’t have anyone looking out for them, inspiring them (and also telling them its ok to drink gin and abandon all hope some days, let’s be honest those days exist), and helping them find the opportunities that we were creating for each other. As much as we have in common, we also have huge differences too, and that’s why it works. We stopped comparing, started recognising our own styles and backed each other up. We were able to adapt a basic idea to our own parenting styles, (which are actually really different) budget and time. We had different priorities, for example one put lots of effort into Christmas, and one loved birthdays, one of us HATES the park (boring), and the other will happily set the kids free in the park for hours. So, between us we realised we could cheat by working together and get a few Pinterest Wins under our belts.
We noticed burnt out parents spending more money than they can afford, or parents dragging themselves to Legoland when their mental health was not up to it because that’s what all their friends did and the guilt of being the only one that didn’t go was too unbearable. We recognised it and wanted to try and help a bit.
And so we created Ace it. We are all about taking simple ideas to facilitate quality family time together, making them our own and using what we actually have available in terms of time, money, skill and effort to ensure the experience we have with our children is meaningful, how WE want to spend it (yes we let the kids have a say too, so long as we like the sound of it) and not about comparing or keeping up with the #so blessed, perfect insta accounts that we couldn’t keep up with. We are here for Pinterest cheats.

5 out of 5 starsI have received the gorgeous memories advent calendar! It is incredibly well packaged and I love the natural xmassy look! The quality of the cards and envelopes is brilliant too. I have ordered photos to use with it for my daughter but you could do this for anyone at all, you could even make it up and post it to a loved one. Really beautiful product and thoughtful idea 💖 thank you so much Ace It xxx
