A new month, a new fresh start. Out with the old stale news. Time for a Lame Duck Version, as we celebrate the ending of a very tough political year.

Its all about the kitties. I had a manx cat named Scooter. I made him a cardboard house (no floor) that sat over a comfy chair. I attached a heating pad to the inside roof. Then covered the whole thing with blankets. He was sooo happy and toasty.
I had to use a ladle to spoon him out because he turned into bread pudding.

there were clear signage about the mature content...it wasn't open to 'all ages' kinda display in the middle of it all...
just like you aren't forced to take your child to an r-rated movie at a public theater, neither was this installation being foisted on any innocents...

---and in fact, it seems that the only thing being protested was one 4 minute video...so, nice of the government to threaten the funding, threaten an audit and the like over such a small item...at the prompting of groups with very specific agendas...

----she's an 18 year old cream siamese who i thought was on her way out just recently - but a nice addition of some fancy wet cat food (tuna flakes) really perked her back up! she's probably 5 pounds soaking wet...

I am completely mystified at the idea that people seem to have that the only possible interpretation of ants on an image constitutes an attack on what that image represents. Aside from the statement the artist was actually making (which was about the suffering of AIDS patients, and what image is a more globally recognized symbol of suffering than a crucifix?)… depicting ants on a picnic blanket doesn’t constitute an attack on the integrity of picnics and all who engage in them.

As a Christian myself, I actually think the image of ants, as an important part of the natural world’s process of decay, crawling over a crucifix makes an interesting statement about the spiritual effects of the gradual decay of our bodies, especially when accelerated by something as pernicious as AIDS. What I’m *outraged* about is the way my co-religionists are using this issue to bludgeon curators of art who are trying to bring an important social issue to their attention.
