I'm afraid due to my workload I'm increasingly unable to commit to custom/bespoke requests. I am happy to do small requests - change of colour combos or an extra interior pocket etc, but large fully custom requests are sadly no longer do-able.

100% cotton canvas which is skilfully treated with wax to create a fabric that is bound with fantastic natural waterproof qualities

here at HOLM I only use the world’s finest quality waxed cotton which has been manufactured in Scotland since 1864. Originally used in rainwear for North Sea fishermen - it’s not only stood the test of time but proved those Scottish textile weavers know a thing or two about producing waterproof fabric.

I especially love waxed canvas as I adore it’s great natural eco credentials - I have a loathing for ‘man made’ plastic fabrics which end up all too soon as land-fill.

WAXED CANVAS and LEATHER

waxed canvas is just like leather and likes to be wiped with a cloth - no sticking it in the machine or submerging in water - just a gentle hand clean.

I make and use my own designed bag and purse patterns ...
I sketch the initial idea, refine the drawing, play around with dimensions, drafting the pattern, cut the pattern template, make a sample piece, wear the sample piece to see if it functions well and them once I’m happy with it I make it part of the HOLM family. I don’t buy in patterns therefore ensure all HOLM bags are unique.

I take a huge amount of care in producing pieces of utmost quality, meticulous craftsmanship and functionality - all the items in my shop are designed, made, photographed, road tested and fretted over by myself, just me in my home studio with my beautiful but utterly useless dog and the radio for company.

I'm obsessive about attention to detail from using the best materials and hardware, to sourcing and ensuring the best environmentally conscious credentials of everything that goes into making a HOLM bag. All parts of the handmade production process are very thoughtfully considered and I hope this shows in the work I create.

I don’t take part in pestering my customers with endless emails of offers and vouchers, I really detest that type of intrusive pushy marketing behaviour.

I used to sell to some very choice boutiques but due to my increasing workload I no longer have the time to commit to wholesale orders or supplying retail outlets.

Adjustable crossbody straps come in two lengths:

STANDARD 56 inch maximum with a minimum 34 inch length
or
Xlong 66 inch maximum with a minimum 54 inch length

You can also choose what width strap you'd prefer:

skinny which is 1/2 inch wide
or
standard which is 3/4 inch wide

If you are unsure which length you'd prefer please measure an existing strap you own where you are happy with the bag placement on your body - measure from end to end and this will give you an idea of which to order.

I offer the option of a fixed length short strap.

This strap measures 24 inches from end to end, it's ideal if you prefer to wear your bag slung on your arm, in the crook of your elbow or short on your shoulder.
