Do you know how to contact your Etsy pals if one of you is muted?

Original Post
I encourage everyone who doesn't already have one to get a gmail account and have etsy conversations forwarded there so that you can easily store and search all contacts with buyers and sellers.
What if your shop is deleted?
Putting your email info into your shop header won't do much good if your shop is suspended or deleted. I strongly suggest including your actual email address in convos to your Etsy friends, people you trade with and people you expect to do business with in the future. That way you're not left completely high and dry if your account is deleted, or the convos server is fritzing out.

We keep marking these things up to "growing pains" but I'm a little concerned about the direction in which etsy is growing.
If it's a place to nurture creativity, to promote art, to stimulate thought, then censorship of just about any part of the site is going to have to be minimal.
If it's becoming a marketplace, then it should act more like a business and do away with these community-oriented features like the Etc Forum and chat.
In fact, being sent to forums for answers is a lot harder than just finding them written in stone somewhere. The existing process seems to promote the earlier, more artistic, more community-minded definition.
Perhaps, for the growth to be made in the proper direction, we need to have etsy defined a little better. What is it? What do you want it to be? Then the growth can be more controlled and for a purpose.
Haphazard parenting makes for confused kids.

Doesn't paranoia, by its very definition, not have a basis in fact?
The facts are right in front of us.

They aren't "parents." Sellers here pay fees and commissions. Selling here is a business relationship. Etsy is a supplier. Sellers are their customers.
If an Etsy seller treated their customers the way Etsy treats their customers - the sellers - that seller would have a lot of negative feedback.

re: warnings to other members, as I said earlier in this thread:

I'd really like to know what is going on here. I keep reading all these threads about deleting or muting yet there really isn't any information available.
And there won't be. After yesterday, only a person with nothing to lose would talk about getting a warning. So we will never know a warning has gone out (to anyone) until further offenses result in a banning/muting. And we will never know what offenses caused the banning/muting, again, because anyone posting details will get the mother of all smackdowns.

from p.4, RevolvingDork says:

You know the saying: You're not paranoid if they really are out to get you. ;)
Seriously, I don't think you could have been more insulting, condescending, or dismissive if you tried. Someone offers a positive solution to be responsible and proactive, and you chalk it up to paranoia. Way to foster community and confidence.

What happened to ebbandflo yesterday was over the top.
Was tinymeat warned about his abusive post last night?
I wondered about this too..especially since he made sure to mention that he's been in on private Admin meetings at the office, etc.

We'll never know--but Tiny made it obvious that he's a friend of Admin's so I doubt anything will happen to him.

just to clarify re: muting for a forum infraction
my forum posting was the only thing affected yesterday. even tho' i received and sent a lot more convos than normal that function remained (i was replying individually and not copy/pasting).
surprisingly i could also get into Chat. i didn't do much with my shop at all but it seemed to be up and running OK.
therefore as stella states, the punishment does apparently fit the 'crime'
what i was more than concerned about was the nature of the suspension mentioned - total account or just the ability to post in forums? my subsequent muting was due to publicising an email to my private inbox from Etsy admin on the forum. to me that's still not crystal clear and i am assuming that judgement would be made on a case-by-case basis and therefore comment in this thread is prob not appropriate
