Your passion, creativity, and unique human touch are what make your small business special—and we work hard to protect that. Etsy’s Trust & Safety team reviews and removes listings that don’t follow our policies to help your products shine and make it easier for buyers to find meaningful items. Still, we know it can be difficult when a listing is removed and you want to understand why it happened so you can move forward more confidently.
That’s why we introduced the Policy violations page last year where you could easily check whether listings have been removed from your shop. We had also piloted a streamlined way to submit listing appeals for Creativity Standards violations with a group of sellers. Based on your feedback, we've expanded it this year to include more in-depth details across most policies—so you can understand exactly why a listing was removed and what to do to stay compliant going forward. We’re also expanding listing appeals beyond Creativity Standards to cover most policies and more sellers. All sellers will have access to this by the end of this year.
About the Policy violations page
You can easily check whether listings have been removed from your shop from our Policy violations page, right in your Shop Manager. From there, you can access:
- Your full listing removal history: See the listings Etsy has removed from your shop as well as which policy each listing didn’t align with.
- Clear, easy-to-access resources: Each removed listing links to resources that outline the relevant policies and can help reduce the likelihood of future removals, too. Based on seller feedback, we’ve recently expanded this to include more in-depth details for most policies, helping you understand why a listing was removed and what to do next.
- Timely updates: You’ll receive notifications right in Shop Manager if one of your listings is removed.
Check out this Help Center article for more information about the Policy violations page.
A streamlined way to submit listing appeals
Last year, we piloted listing appeals for Creativity Standards violations with a group of sellers. The feedback was clear: sellers valued having space to provide an explanation when appealing a decision, and found the process fast with clear next steps. So this year, we're expanding it.
Appeals are now available for more policies and more sellers—and we're working to give all sellers access to listing appeals by the end of this year. You can check which policies are currently eligible in this Help Center article.
A few things to keep in mind before you act on a removed listing:
- Our human agents review every appeal, and sellers who submit one are less likely to receive the same violation again.
- If you believe your listing was removed in error, we recommend appealing rather than creating a new listing for that item. Submitting an appeal gives you an opportunity to share additional context with our team and can help avoid another policy violation and an additional listing fee.
- Most reviews are completed within 3 days but may take up to 10–12 days.
We’re continuing to assess opportunities to bring listing appeals to more policies.
Building a more transparent, trusted marketplace
These updates are part of our ongoing effort to give you clearer information, better tools, and more transparency regarding listing removals and our policies. Together, we’re helping keep Etsy a safe, creative, and inspiring place for your business to grow. Check out the Ultimate Guide to Policy for more information on why policies are created, best practices for listing removals, and how we’re increasing transparency.
